I remember watching a video on one of the social media forum in which a tall American officer standing on dice was addressing to an event and the first thing which he said to the crowd was “If you want to change the world, start by making your bed” and the whole crowd cracked up but honestly I didn’t as I knew exactly where he was going with this. I understand that our generation wants everything now, we always talk about changing the world but we hardly try to change our surroundings and do not give importance to little things just like something as small as fixing your bed as it does make a strong impact on our personalities and makes us come more closer to our own selves.

I did not remember this video unless I read something similar in my self development course and I realized that everyday I cannot impact everyone around me but what I can do is to bring betterment in my life on a daily basis. So today, in this blog I am elaborating changes of my own world by literally making my bed, lol. These little gestures will bring greater disciplines in my life. Great leaders make short term goals and through these they reach there greater goal. So make short term and realistic goals so you can be proud of them once achieved and you will to do more will be intact.

Now moving on to the practical activity, I took pictures of my surroundings and will highlight which parts can be fixed.

As you can see in the picture bookshelf and room chair are messed up so lets get a clearer look.

CLUTTERED BOOKSHELF WITH RANDOM STUFF (BEFORE)
Properly arranged bookshelf (AFTER)

After clearing the mess of the highlighted area I decided to align the room chair and arrange that too.

FINAL IMAGE OF SURROUNDING (AFTER)

So, its time to summarize the whole experience, I was situated in my bedroom while completing this activity. I selected a book shelf and a room chair to fix it’s stuff. The bookshelf was cluttered with other random stuff I put whenever I am in a rush as it is only supposed to be fro books only I removed all the other things and put them in their actual places. I also clear my room chair as there were prayer mat and prayer sheet lying on the chair I fold them and put them in their respective cabinet. This task made me feel good and gave me sense of accomplishment these little things do hold a value and honestly if it was not for this project I was not ready to clear my bookshelf anytime soon as I always think that I am going to do it sometime later.

This activity gives you the feeling that you are your own leader and do not need anybody else to take your decisions without any title of designation start taking responsibility as that quality will take you places.
